Working with Builders FirstSource of Rapid City, these Black Hills homeowners relied on the design services of Builders FirstSource to craft a warm and inviting open concept kitchen, complete with a large island topped with a truly unique live-edge countertop.
What resulted is a one-of-a-kind kitchen space with an abundance of both charm and functionality. A recessed hood preserves views of the ponderosa pines just outside the window, while drawer layout ensures a place for everything, and everything in its place.
To finish the style off, the homeowners opted for a custom tinted varnish finish for the cabinets, giving it a look unique exclusively to their home. This finish requires three tinted coats of catalyzed material, uniformly applied to the maple wood. Light sanding occurs between each coat, ensuring a smooth finish. Once coated a third time, the cabinets are then cured to provide added durability.
